Dear Sister
I received a letter from you sep 19 and one Oct 16 I neglected to answer the first untill I was so sick that I could not wright I am much better now but can not hardley wright on account of a boil on my finguer it is getting better I suppose that you have heard that Cap J U White of our Com has resined well it is the fact but he was forced to (if he had not) he would probably have been court-martial and cashiered that would throwed him out at any rate & with with disgrace I think he did the best thing he could under the circomstancies I recieved the silk hanekerchief when I was on Roanoak they are just the thing and I have had the misfortune to loose one of them since I have been here I have recieved no papers from any of our folks since Mother sent me that Advertiser and was a good time ago I have recieved no hankerchiefs but the silk ones I am in the hospitall and do not know how long I will have to stay hear the Doc ordered a mustered plaster on my chest this morning for a soreness of the lungs which was put on a bout 9 Oclock and I kept it on untill noon when I tore it off Pleas excuse all mistakes
