Dear Brother
I seat my self this eving to write you a few lines to let you know that i am well at present and i do hope that thoes few lines may find you and your famley well and doing well i hav riten to all of my Brothern laws but you and i thought i would write you a few lines and see if you would do as they hav done you might ask how they done i hav riten to Palie time and a gain and some times he would anser them and some times he would not and the reason i dont know for never giv him any excuse to treat me in that way and i hav riten to J Trigg and Jason and Benny and hav not got any anser yet and it has bin a bout one month ago since i hav riten to them now antony if they cant write to me i dont care for i am as good as any of them altho hav not got so far a long in this world and i thought i would write you a few lines to see if you are like the rest never think if a poor soldier but i hav a beter opinion of you then that and tell Lydia i would like to eat one good meal at her house once more as i often hav done i think that she is one of the best cooks in the contry and if Clair has not sent that box when you get this tell Lydia i want her to send me some of her good things as i am not there to eat any of them well antony soldiern is prety hard way to surve the Lord and i dont think this war will close within three years as long as the north will / take the stand she dose there will never bee peace but if the north would bee all of the same mind it would not last long but the south knowes that the north is devided and it incerdges them and discarages our soldiers but i hope this concrip law will make some of come to there feeling and i dont care who it brings out that has the least feeling for the south and if i liv to get home it wont do for some of them to talk as i hav herd them but i know you are all write on that & see a fact but there is some that you know that haint write but are roten to the core well antony i want you to write and tell me your opinion about this war when you think it will come to a close and tell me how you are getting along and what you are going to do this sumer and tell me who all got elected this spring and tell mee all the news for it dose mee a heep of good to here from that cuntry Clar dont write half often enough some times dont get a leter from her for two weeks and when you get this i want you to read this to her if she was out here and i was there i would write more than once a week for she must rite oftener then she dose or i will forget that i hav a wife but it may bee that she writes oftener but i dont get them so there is some thing rong well antony i will close for the present the bugal has sounded to get fed so giv my love to all the famley ever remain your Brother untill deth
