Your welcome letter bearing date Feb 7th came to hand in due time and it is with pleasure that I attempt an answer
Well Tim I can truly say that I am glad that you are a Soledier again and may you ever be one of the bravest and best that when your time is up you may return / Home with all the Honors of a true soledier
Mary Vantassel and her man are out on a visit they have been out here but I did not see them I was down to Ithaca on a visit I felt very sorry but could not help it they start for their western home to morrow I believe
I have been at home all winter only when I went to Ithaca a visiting I was there four weeks and I enjoyed it well. we have had some awful cold wether here this winter but not a great deal of snow there is enough for sleighing here on the hill we have not had to go in the fields this winter and you know that is something uncommon for us for we generaly have to go / through the fields nearly the year round.
Kate Barnes or rather Kate Linderman and her man was here last evening and made a visit Kate is the same sixpence that she used to be full of fun they are liveing on Irish hill this winter he is makeing shingles up their they board at John Hetheringtons as it is getting dark and I have been writeing nearly all day I will bring my letter to a close by asking you to write soon
