Camp near H landing
Dear Father & Mother & Sisters
I am sorly soarley pained to be oblige to give you the news that this letter will contain so God giveth so he taketh away. Brothr Myron with but 10 days of illness Dide on the 20th of this about half past 5 in the morning he took cold & it settled on his lungs and it all the Surgon could do he could not availl him nothing. he was deranged the most of the time I was away most of the time on picket during his illness but before I went away he was rather unwill and I had him go and see the Doctor the Doctor thought he had he had better go to the / Regimenttal Hospital. I had hard work to get him to go for he thought he was not sick enough for that But after I had been gon 10 days I got a note from Mr Grainger of his Death I was requested to com in I came & provided a very good cofin I had him laid out in his as the circumstances would permit. & then I picked out ar a spot whare I thought I would like to gave him lay if hee is obliged to remain in on this disputed Soil He was buried in Military edicary the Chaplin addrest the Platton with the deapest of Sympathy & then we preceded to the berial and when it was over the Platton gave 36 farwewll Shotts over the grave whare the Brave Boy lay the Boys are all willing / willing to help me
He was one of the first in the great Cavelry Charged at Boonbourough he was seen to fire his revolver & carbine till the enamy was out of Raing I took a borde & with my Saber scraped as smoth as I could & with my knife Carved his Compny & Regment & to morow I will fix a Seadr fraim around the grave the Boys are all willing to help him me I cant think off eny more to write of importance from your Obedient Son
