                        I           I thought you would like to hear from me by this time so I thought I would write you a few lines to let you know that I am well and enjoying good health and I hope that this will find you the same I have considerable news to write you if I had time to write it I have not time to write but a few lines this time we are down / in Lousiana below Vicksburg we marched acrossed from mullikens bend I dont know what we are going to do but I think that we are going to operate upon Vicksburg in some shape we can hear heavy cannonadeing in the dirud direction of Vicksburg evry night I think it is our boats running the blocade you must write as often as you can you may not hear from me in some time / for I dont have much chance to write you must excuse my short and poorly written letter for I have got to go on duty in about 15 minutes good bye for this time                              yours
