I recived your kind letter I am well at present Gorge Holdridge is abot to start fore home I sent word to Chany by him to have him send me some Butter and some Chees But you tell him he need not send them Fore thare is so much smugling a gowing on here it wold not be safe it wold gow to some officer insted of me geting it The weather is very cold here at present wee dont have now hay here fore our / horses But we take them out aruon here and let them eate we are abot to gow on a experdition to Jackson thare are abot eight hundrid a gowing out of our regment I will Probley gow to If we gow we will smel some poder that what we gow fore tow rebles come in this morning and gave them self up thay keep coming in all the time you spoke abot sarah I hold think it is a bot time she should change her name But she knows best I supose If she dont it is time she did I wish you wold send them Photograph I told you a bot But if you dont wish to send them say so and I will not look fore them you have had time to have them taken plenty I spoke abot that experdition in the first part of my letter the orders has come to get redy to start to morrow morning at five a clock evry man has got to gow that got a horse /
I am sorry to hear of Gorge frygate death but that the way with the world his time had come and he had to leave ous Jenkins is here and look well Joseph Baker is puty low But he can get around But he dont do no duty him and martin Anderson ar tue Be sent home fore thay are not able to do duty But that the way in the army thay wont send a man home untill he is dead then thay wont unless he will pay his one expensus or pay his far sow good Bye fore this time you must fore give me fore writing sow poor fore I am in a hurry at present I wrote this letter on a pice of Bord you musent think we have as good a place as you do to write with fore we dont while I was writing this letter the wind Blowed it a way from me three times /
