My Dear Brother
and Sister and friends
 
I again take my pen in hand to wright afiew lines to you to Let you know that I am well fat and Saucy and I hope when these fiew lines come to hand they will find you all Enjoying the Same Blessing. I Received your cind leter about 6 week ago and havent herd a word from you Since this makes 3 leters I have writen to you and have not Received any answer yet but I hope I will this week Well Will the Last time I wrote to you we was at nolin Camp Megla / Wee left their the next Day about 12 OClock Wee Marched to Beacon Creek the Distence was 14 miles we got there about 7 Oclock at knight we then fell some fens rails cut up the top then made a fire and got our Supers after Super we pitched our tents and went to bed we got to bead about 12 Oclock we Stade at that Camp 5 Days nothing of importance occurred while we Stade there we got Marching Orders on Monday Evening that wee would march the next Morning so we packed our Napsacks that knight all redy to Start Early the next Morning we was all in line the next morning and on our Way Rejoising before 8 Oclock bound for Green River wee / arrived There about 11 Oclock that Day Our Brigade was the advance Guards wee got there first but there was 2 or 3 Regiments there bfore wee got there they had been there 3 or 4 Days a watching the Bridge Well when we got there wee Marched in to a field to camp wee had got our Wagons Unloded and Commensed to pitch our tents when the Cannon Commensed firing Down to wards the river the news Came Directly that they was fighting Just over the river the long Roll was beeton on the Drum and it was not long till wee was all on the way to the Batle field wee was all in fine Spirits wee thought wee was / Going to See Some fund but before wee got there the news came that they had fled wee was all Sorry that wee Didnot get their in time to help them if wee had been 1 half hour sooner we could killed and taken them all prisoner there was Only 4 hundred of Colonel Wilicks Regiment Engaged in the Scurmish and there was 3 or 4 thousand Secesh but they found out we was coming and they fled but not all of them for there was 75 Secesh killed on the field and 11 horses. there was 13 of our men killed I saw ten of them some fiew wonded I Dont know how many wee Dont know how many Secesh was wonded there was a Secesh

Colonel Killed and a Lieutenant Colonel and 2 Captens. I tell you the Dutch is some on Secesh it was an In’d dutch Regiment there was only 2 Cannon fired on our side there was Severil fired by the Secesh but with out any affect they had their Cannon Batries on the Cars they run the cars right up to the batle field the 2 shots that was fired from our side was fired at the Engin so they could get the cannon but they was to far off they could not hit it Well I could think of Enough to keep / me a wrighting for a week but it is after taps and I must Quit Our Regiment was out on picket yesterday it rained all day we was relieved at knight because it was such a wet Day Our Company was stationed on the batle field. I like to forgot to tell you that Jim is sick he has been sick for a week they sent him to Louisville to the General hospitle he went day before yesterday he had the feavers.
