My Dear Brother
and Sister and
friends I again take my pen in hand to wright you afiew Lines to let you know that I Am Well fat and Sacy and still a fatening and I hope when these fiew Lines come to hand they will find you all Enjoying the same blessing Dear brother I received your kind leter yesterday and I was very glad to hear from you I begin to think you was nevr a going to wright any more I want you to wright often for I am all alone hear now Jim is sick they sent him to the Louisville Hospittle yesterday was a week ago I hant heard from him Since i Do not know wheather he has gon home or not / He had the feavers and I guess when he got sick all he thought about was home and that made him worse Well Will I am Staing at the Hospitle now a wating on the sick the 38th is about all sick there is a lot of them got the Measels I Hope the Measels will soon be through with for there is a lot of them that has had them and Just geting over them there has been Severil Died and Severil went to the Louisville Hospitle and Severil Sick in the camp hospitle where I am so you know Our Regiment is Quite dismall Dear Brother I wish you could be hear for a litle while to see how you would like to be a Soldier a Soldier sees some fine times and some hard times but as long as I keep My Health you could not sute me any beter you allways have plenty of Company and lots of friends if you are a good fealow if I was to get to come home I would not / Stay I would be in the army for the Stars and Strips Waved Over My Cradle and they shall Wave Over My Grave but Dear brother I do not want you to go to war and leave your Loving Wife and baby like some do for when we get in a batle I will kill a Secesh for you. Well Will I must Quit my foolishness and wright about Some thing Else there was a flag presented to General Rusaw to Day it was a grand Sight I tell You I wish you could saw them there was 8 Regiments there all armed and Equipt some Regiments Drawn up in line of batle Some formed in a Squair there was a lot of Artillery there 6 Horses to Each Cannon they was all Drawn up in a line and there was some Cavelry there I tell you it looked nice I was not there but I saw it all I was at the hospitle where I had a nice view at them / When they got through with the flag presentation and the Speaking was all through with and the troops was all left the field they commensed practising with Shooting with the Cannon they Shot about 1/2 mile wee could see when the Ball Struck in the hill when they would Shoot as plain and they Shot Severil Shells and Some of them would burst before they got to the target wee could see the flash and Smoke in the air where they would burst and hear the report of the Shell plain they practice Evry 3 or 4 Days wee Donot have to Drill Mutch now I guess we will Stay hear till the Bridge is finished so the cars can Run over it it was the nices Bridge Ever i saw it is an Iron Bridg there is one third of it toren Down it is                                              to be Continued
