Dear Brother
I receved your letter yesterday dated Dec the 2nd and was glad to hear from you all’s I have writen some two or three letters to you sinc that time and shall expect you to answer them when you get them: this leaves my well with the exception of the tooth ache which I have not been bothered with till yesterday but it dont amount to much other ways I am all right. You need not put your self to any trouble about getting me any mony now / if you have not already for Uncle Sam was around last Sunday and paid us off for one moths wages, and we expect to recive pay for two more months the first of next month. I told mother in a letter that I would send her some money soon but I dont think it woud be altogether soft safe. if I have a chanc when I get more I will send it home by some of the boys. You said in your letter you and Joseph raised a pole on the house I thought he had gone to the wars I want to know what that means. I understand that the Cavelry company that the Woodruff and Weaver belongs is going to be disbanded and sent home; that is if they are not willing to go / in as Infantry (which they swear they wont): on the acount that the federal goverment had more Cavelry than it could possebly make use of: they belonged to no particular regiment and they expected the position of a body guard which they slipped up in getting. the last I heard of them they were encamped at Gen. Mitchells head quarters about 5 miles south of Louisville just half a mile from camp Jenkins where we were when we first come to Ky. We have had very nice weather since we have been here there has not been a day that we could not go in our shirt sleeves with comfort. I W will have to quit writing for they are falling in for section drill /

Write soon and let me
know the particulars
            yours Truly N. Keen
