Dear Mother
As having this evening at my leasure I will write you. I am in my room alone right opposite court Square and the band are a playing on the stage which is situated in the center and it sounds splendid it is a beautifull eve and evry body is out but myself. I received a letter from E R the other day only 23 days on the way (as they would say down here) it came right smart. and a paper dated July 8th reached me this evening late news but better late than never Well how do you all get along at home all well I hope and agetting along finely. I suppose you would like to know about me; Well I am in good health and stand the hot weather well; I get threw with the situation I am in the 20th of this month as the business will not require / so many clerks and then I am acoming home to stay a short time and then on my return am agoing into the Rail Road office I think at least I have had a good situation offered to me either in office or Conductor on Road. On my way home I am agoing to Indiana to stay a few days to attend to a little business and will probably be Home the first week in Sept if nothing happenes more than I now know off—; What are all of those Busey tongues about in Holyoke are they slandering some one or have they got into better business. the latter I hope. Perhaps I will not be a very welcome guest at home after what has been said But I have done nothing to be ashamed off and I can come home and hold my head as high as ever, and also can bring a good reference as to my conduct for the past five month, if required but one thing Mother I have been abused by people in Holyoke who probably thought H. never would return. And if I ever do return some of them will get a very / cold reception and a chance to receive a good big piece of my mind; one thing certain some of my relation have had to much to say about my affairs; and I will not make any bones of telling them so; and the ones who have said so much are not respect any more by me than I am by them; Well when I see you I can tell you all; You must excuse all mistakes in this the mosquiatoes are so thick there is no cumfort in writing on any subject; so good by until I see you. My regard to you all at Home and best wishes for your Success and happiness;
I Remain
Yours Truly
