January the 10th 64
 
Dear Sarah I again seat my self to rite you a few lines to let you know that I am still a live and well and I hope when toes few lines com to hand they may finde you all engoying the same Gods blessing
 
I am still at Knoxville but I expect to go to Chattanooga this weak Cap Naylor was up hear last weak and tride to get us back to our own battery but they wont let us go untill he sends some boys to fill our places he will send them this weak /
 
all the boys that came out with the battery have inlisted in the vetren Corpse. they have all gon home on furlow that was at Chattanooga their is 7 or 8 of them hear and they are going home as soon as we get to Chattanooga I expect if we could we would all have reinlisted just for the sake of getting home for a while but we cant reinlist unless we have ben in the survis 21 months
 
I will now tell you that the Captain brought our letters he brought me 6 letters and a pair of socks I wish I could cis you for the socks for they are the best I ever had

I will send you a specamon of Rebal money I give a boy 10 ct for this one for civilitys sake
 
this makes 5 letters I have rote since I left Chattanooga
