Dear Sarah I embrace the preasant opportunity of riting to you and I hope thoes few lines will finde you and our little Girl well as I am happy to say that I am still enjoying good helth I expect you will be supprised to hear that I am at Nash vill
 
We left Chattanooga 3 days ago the whole Company is sent hear after horses We are 152 milds closer home than we was 3 days ago but we / will start back in a day or 2 We come threw on the cars but we will have to go back a horse back it will take us about 5 days to go back We will have to take 3 horses apeace. I will not get any letter from you untill we get back to Chattanooga
 
the weather is pretty cold it tride to snow some night before last
 
the boys are all in fine spirits and seing a high time as might be expected after bein away from sivillisation so long /
 
Well I guess I will have to close for the boys are making so mutch noise I cant think if any thing to rite if we stay hear any length of time I will rite again but if we start back in 2 or 3 days I will not rite any more untill I get back to my old stomping ground
 
but I will say good by for this time
