               Chesterfield County
                                  Sept 8 1866
 
Dear Cousin,
                     As I have a chance
to send a note to you, I
will do now.
I cant find my calico in
town like Matties dress, so
I have not gotten any
for you.  I am afraid to
send your money by the
negro man.  Come down
soon.  I do want to come
up there so bad to see
you all;  My love to all.
I have had company for
the last eight weeks all
the time;  My company from
Southampton has just left
Spent two weeks with us.
We had a very nice time
while up here.
wish you could of been with
us.  John is in Richmond and now
at work  Wm is with Mr. Booker
will not come home until
Christmas so they said when
left.  Peter want to come up
to see Willie but dont look
for him.  He has to go to see
John in a week or two so will
not come until after then.
Not much time to write
Mrs. Nells is here to spend
the day.  All well at Aunt
Martha’s   saw her at church
Sunday.  Mr. Patrom & Harriet
Dier was married last Saturday
run away and went to South Bay
I am in a hurry so good
