Dear Emma Libby Charlie
Good afternoon we have got orders to leve here to morrow morning all of our compny about 90 of us all in one compny and all that i am aquined with from Sharon seward Ames cobleskill all first rate fellows we had a talk with a officer from our regement to day whose time is out he has served 3 years he left the regement the 20 of last month he says it has bin detailed at harppersferry to do Gaurd duty he says that it wont do eny fighting this winter and by the first of April we will be all / home if it only so we have the newes here every day and if such good news comes mutch longer as i hope it will the rebbles cant hold out mutch longer i have got good courage and i want you to do the same Emma i want yu you to get some dark stuf stiff stuff for me two shirts and make them as soon has you can i want woolen and put put pockets on each side these what we get here are white short thing i canot ware them and they aint half made i will let you no when and where to send them so good bye remember me in your praers and i will you and children god bless you G A Empie
