Darling Wifey
I absolutely have not time to write you a letter as I would wish to in ans. to the two dear loving ones received The mail is waiting I will send you this little note tonight and try and write tomorrow. I fortunately was detained but one day and night in Nashvill and did not see any of our friends. I am well and my Regt better than ever is in excellent health and spirits the Boys have helped me nobly during my severe probation here. I am assigned to command of this Post and forces here. It is now the most important one in the Army.
