My Dear little wife I thought that you would like to hear from your absent husband and I thought that I would try and write you a few lines to night the weather is warm and it rains some my health is good and I hope that this will find you enjoying the same blessing I dont know what to write and so I will say a few words to you about the mercies of god oh how thankfull we should be that the life and health of our familey has ben spaird that we can read and studey those blessed promises and / to think that we have promised to live for those blessings that the faithfull shall receive at the great and last day we have prayer meetings hear 2 or 3 times a week and I hope that the prayers of all gods people will folow the soldier boys and I am shure that we shall have the prayers of my Dear wife and I hope and trust that the time will come when I shall once more mingle with you in prayers and prais I will now close for to night and wish you a good night

how do you do to night and how are the Children I will / spend a few moments in writing to you I received your letter that was mailed the 10 and was glad to hear that your health was good and that you still had courage well hope on and prey that you may be patient and continue in well doeing I received a letter from H N Winslow to day they wer all well you wrote that Onslow was Corporal well I am glad of that I hope that he may be a good one and I dont se why he should not you may write me aney thing that you pleas and fear not tell rila that I congratulate her on his sucksess and hope that they will live to / meet again and spend the remainder of their days in the servis of their father in heaven I had rather of heard that he had given his heart to god but will prey and hope and trust in god we have ben cleaning up for inspection tomorow and I think that my things are readey and in good order the report is that this regiment does not get half a neough to eat and are not half Clothed and thinking that perhaps you might hear this stuff I have written this to you now that is all false thare is not a word of truth in it we ar well and thank god for it kiss my Children and tell them to be good and mind mother tell father and mother that I have not forgoten them and will try and write them some time give my love to all and reserve for Nila
