Well Nila we have ben out to work on the fort and as I have some time to write I thought that I would write you a few lines and let you know how we stood our quarter master has had orders to draw no more rations nor hay nor grain so it seams that we may moove and we may not you wrote that Oney was Corporal well you kneed not feel bad because your man is not on for perhaps he may be one sometime thare was a man told me some time a go that if / I had ben a Cor that I should have ben apointed Seargant so the captain told him my name has ben sent in for the 4 Cor as thare has just became a vacancey you can se how I stand with my Ofisers and I mean to conduct my self in a maner that shall make me respectable in the armey or at home or aney whare that I am called to go and with the help of god I will I must now close by asking the blessing of god to rest uppon you and dont forget to prey for us all
