Well Mrs Venila Hubbard I now take my pen in hand to let you know that I still live and enjoy good health and spirits and though far from home I hope that I shall live to cum home and se you and the rest of my friends I received your letter dated the 14 and was glad to hear that you wer all well and getting a long first rate and I hope that you will continue to do so I have written you some 2 or three since that one that was dated the 5 and 6 and I want to know if you ever get them I have got the papers that you send me and thank you for them I hope / that you will get your stait aid when it is due for then I shall think that you can get alonge and not suffer but dont you suffer while thare is aney in the hands of H N Winslow you wrote that you should let father have that 16 dollars that he wanted have him give you a note onn intrest for it we have had a snow storm hear we have about 12 inches hear and yesterday it snew and then it blew and then it fris and was very tedious all day but to day it is pleasant and warm I expect that we shall leave hear in the spring if not before but I am willing to go and do what I can you wanted to know who directed that / letter I dont know I cant remember if it was printed it was Mr Charles Moulton if it was written it was Seargant J. T. French and I did not think that it would scare you the envelop that I send this in Moulton printed and I think that it is nice dont you now say you asked if my gloves and stockins wer not all worn out they ar nearley gonn but my stockins I have 2 pairs that I brought with me that are good yet and I dont think that you had better send aney keep your money for your self and children the orderley has just ben in hear and says that our Captain has ben apointed Colonel of / a black Regiment but I hope not well I must close and may god bless you and keep you safe give my Love to father and Mother and grandmother and the friends around Oh about Thomas Taylor he is steadey and a good boy I sea him every Day or two and erastus is deasantley steadey but uses some bad language all we can do is to prey for him and leave the rest in the hands of the lord pleas write when you get this and oblige me yours
