I now take my pen in hand to write you a few lines to let you know that I am still alive and enjoying good health I have just cum off gard and now I try to write to my wife a few lines I have received yours of the 21 and was glad to hear that you wer well and getting along finley and I hope that you will continue so to do untill I get home I was glad to hear that oney had left off swearing and was reading his bible I am glad that he is / held in esteem by his ofisers and I hope that he will continue to rise in honor and may god bless him and bring him safe home we are still hear and may stay I dont know how long I came off from gard last thursday and went on again yesterday and have lived through it we are short of Corporals and so it makes it harder for us but that will be sean to soon I have got a memorandum of what I have done since I left the Cuck house whitch I will send you when I get time to write it off I must Close now good morning E is well /
