My Dear Nila
I now take my pen in hand to write you a few lines to let you know that I have not forgotten you and though I have got no letter from you for more than a week I dont think that it your fault My health is good and so is Erastuses he was on guard yesterday and is a sleep now I have got to go on tomorow and I hope that I shall get a letter from you I wrote a letter to Jane last night and one now to you I filled her / sheet just as full as it could be and then I wrote crossways but you will excuse me if I just fill the sheet and I will try and do that now and then I shall expect you will do the same when you get this and then it will be eaven I go over and se Thomas Taylor and Baker often and I have just learnt that Spencer Nash is in this regiment he came over to se me one night this weak he is well and loocks as natural as the hogs as granmother says thomas and Baker are well they are in their Cuckhouse /
I dont hardley know what to write to fill this sheet but I want to write you a few lines in regard to that hope that we had of our eternal rest now Nila I hope you will hold out to the end for you know that it is to those that this rest shall be given and by the grace of god I will try and meet you in heaven if I neaver do on earth but I am full of the faith that I shall sea you all again and I thank god that our lives have ben spaird till the present time and oh let us continue to thank him for it and call uppon / him at all times and trust in his words we have 3 prayer meetings a weak and thear seams to be some intrest and I hope that god will bless the means used hear for the salvation of siners and I spose you go to meeting once in a while do you ever go over to fathers and se the old neighbors I have had two or three from Mrs Dawes and some from Newton and I got one from heman latey I have written to Lyman but have got no answer and I think that I shall write to some one else perhaps some of the girls but dont you tell rachel by the way do you know whare Henrey packard is
