Dear cousin
I will drop you a few
this morning to let you know that I have
not forgotten You I write to you last but
any how as I have a chance to send a
letter to you I write again I have nothing
very interesting to write I suppose you have
seen the bill that has been past keeping all
between eighteen and thirty five in service
I think it is very hard on on those that want
to retire from the service It dont hurt
me for I had reenlisted before that bill
passes Cousin Suzie Burnard wrote to me some
time ago and I have not answered his letter
yet tell him that iI will answer his letter soon
paper is so very hard to get that I
cant write as often as I would like to write
You cant find a piece of paper in Suffolk
and we cant go anywhere to get any They
are giving forty eight hour passes to the
men now George has one now but he will
have such a short time to go and come that
he will not have time to go anywhere
hardly Cousin Susie we have a very good time
down here this is the prettiest place that we
have ever been to yet I like this place
very much we have the pleasure of going to
Church here every Sunday I hird a very good
Sermon last Sunday and we are station
on the railroad so our friends can come to
see us without any trouble and when we get
a furlow if we ever do we can go home in
one day and when we were on the peninsula
we we were bothered to death to get on the boat
after we got a furlow This is decidedly the
best place Cousin Suzie give my love to
Uncle Allen and Aunt Nancy when you see
them and tell Uncle Allen to come down
and see us and maybe he can ketch a sweet
hart down here for there is a heep of pretty
girls in Suffolk I will stop for this time
it will soon be drill time and this is writen
so very badly that I dont think you can
read it no how So I reckon I had as well
stop Cousin write soon I think sometimes
that I have not got a friend in Chesterfield
for I dont get a letter for three weeks
sometimes I will close anyhow for the
present give my love to all the girls and
speak a good word to them for me This
leaves me well There is some tow or more
cases of the mumps in the Company I have
had it Write Soon and all the news in
the neighbour hood I remain your Cousin the
lame excuse bad spelling and writing D.H.Moore
