Camp near Falmunt
Mr Jacobs. Dear Sir.
I recid your two Letter the 26 inst. & was glad to hear that you were all well. I also recid your Receipt. I went after the bot to Falmunt but it was not there. I then went to Aquia Creek were the Adams Express landet, there was a whol Ship load of Boxes there, but min was not there yet. I showed the Agent the receipt but he said that he had left Washington befor the dat of the Receipt. I also had Lieut. Brindle's Receipt along for his Box. the Agent told mi that, that the Box of Brindles may be on the load but i could not get it, that he would not giv a single Box out. the Boxes is to be given to each Division were thy belong to & from the Division thy ar to go to the Brigads & then to the Regt under a Provost / guard. it may go a week or 10 Days yet befor we get the boxes. We had ben marching two Mils, but thy could not go any further, thy Artilley stok fast in the Mud also the Wagons to it was raining for 3 Days & Nigts. thy had to mak roads for the Artilley & Wagons to com bak to their old quarters We ar in our old Camp again & may be we hav to stay her till spring. yesterday it was raining all Day & snowing & all last nigt. this morning wen i got up I fou out the snow was about 6 inches dept. it is midling cold to Lamperton is still her yet tending to his son Robert is getting better & is recovering very fast & if he keps on this way he will be able to go hom with his father in 8 or 10 Days Lamperton is trying to get a furlough for R. & i thing he will get on to by giving security for his return as son as he is able to return to the Army. I will clos now & writh to you in a few Days again, forgiv mi my bad writing i will try & do better the next tim my Lov to you all. Jos. A. Stair
