Deare Brother and Sister I take my pen in hand to wright you a few lines to let you know where I am and how I am getting along I am well at present and have been since I left home with the exception of a little cold which I caught in the way of iniciation into camp life I was weighed to day and find that I have gained 13 lbs since I left home and have an appt appetite like a sawmill I was in camp at Columbus about two week and a half we had plenty to eat and pretty comfortable quarters there but the camp was to small & hampered it was just keep up for a stoping place for recruits till they could be sent to theire / regiments we then left that and went by railroad to Camp Denison within 15 miles of Cincinati we stayed there about two days Camp Denison contains I suppose about 500 acres of land and is a nice piece of ground for a camp we went from Denison to Cincinati by Railroad we then got a bord of a steamer and after a pleasent ride of about one hundred and sixty or seventy miles on the Ohio River we arrived at Lewisville Ky at which place we are now quartered I do not know how long we will stay here but I suppose not more than 2 or 3 days we are waighting for transportation and as soon as we can get it we will leave for the regiment which is I believe in Nashville Tenn The building which we are quartered in is said to belong to General Buckner / an old cecessh General who is now fighting against us in the Rebel army this building has been used for some time as quarters for our troups and I suppose will be as long as the rebellion gowes on I expressed a napsack paire of Boots and Coat from camp Columbus to Wm Campbell the rest of my clothes are at Aron Campbells. you can do as you think best about takeing my trunk and clothes home with you I must draw my scribling to a close as it is getting late and there is a greateeal of noise and confusion around me I do not know exactly know where to tell you to Direct your letters but I gues if you Direct to Lewisville Kentucky they will follow Direct to Co.
