Dear Friends at Home.
I thought that it was Sunday and I had nothing to use up the time so I thought that I would set down and write. I am still on the gain I think that I gain strength every day I went down town yesterday and it did not tire me half as much as it did the time before that. If you have not sent the last box erere you get this I want Chas to get a small one of the small leather Pocket flask be sure and have it leather and small as convenient and fill it with as good brandy as old Mil affords I want you to send me two or three Packages of those Govt Envelopes and a lot of good plain paper like this you can get it cheaper than / I can. If any of you see Mrs Goodman tell her I want a bottle of my wine that I made tell her she need not be hoggish because it is natural for her. Father wanted to know what the fare from St Louis Rolla. it is $4.50cts I dont think that he will want to come down in this miserable hole right off He would not see any thing but Mules. Hay. Corn. U.S. Stores Cavelry Pickets they fill the town a bout all the time a coming in and going out. I think that when you send boxes to me I would take a Receipt and if they are lost you can make the company pay for it. I think it a perfect shame for to have that / box on the road all this time I have not heard any thing from it yet. I want you to give that Am Express Co peticular Gowdy for me Blackguard them like blazes Tell Friend H. M. Hartwell that a letter from him occasionally would be very acceptable like to hear how the Old room and its inmates gets a long you can give him the directionst to Poscribe the letter. This is about all I have to write this time dont forget my flask get as handy a one as you can give my love to all enquiring for me and tell them that / I am about right again You can see that I am better by my writing in this letter I dont get so tired a writing as I did. this is all this time
