Dear Parents
I received a letter from Chas yesterday with my watch that came with Mr. Allen He arrived here all safe yesterday. I thought that I would let you know that it got to me all safe. I did not know but what Chas had gone down to chicago to work. I suppose that he will let me know when he gets to work down there. I think that if he can get $16. a week down / there that it will be a great deal better for him than running for the Central. Is he a going to move down there If he likes his sit. I like my watch very well Have you seen any thing of that money that Ferguson was agoing to pay me. I think that it was about time that he was a paying it. There is not much news a around camp to write. Our first Lieut. A. B. Rockwell started home on a furlough day before yesterday. he lives in Oconomowoc. I tickleder man you never saw when he found that he was a going home. He said that he would stop two or three / days in Milwaukee You may get a chance to see him. I wrote H. M. Hartwell a week or two ago I dont know whether he will think it worth while answering it or not. Sam Bernell has gone in to the rank as a private in Co. D. which his brother is captain of. I should think that it would tough on him to come down to soldiers fair I got a letter from Bill Maxfield the other day he likes his sit very well just now. he says that he lives well. He has a tent to sleep in / all to himself which he uses for an office. He has a good time of it for a soldier. We are having fine weather here just now down I tell you that it takes the grease out of a feller a drilling now days. We have to drill four hours a day and have dress parade parade at sunset. Our regiment out to be well drilled we are drilling all the spare time we have. The boys are all well at present. They send their best respects to you
