Dear Wife
I received dated 12th and it found me enjoying very poor Health. And I hope these few lines will find you all enjoying good Health. And you said the Boys wanted to know what coller the horse is that I have got. the horses is all Black in our Company. and you wanted know what kind of guns we have we have got Carbine and Sabers and tell mat that I haint found that Little Bag yet Like Amos Vandigrift and we talk of Leaving here pretty soon. and dont write again untill I write again for I dont know where we might go to yet untill we get settled /
And give my Respect to all my enquireing friends and send my Best Respects to Bill Aggee and I Received that 50 cents that you sent and you pay the taxes before the first of January and tell George Eckley to get a receipt from Amos Gregg when he payes the taxes. And it is hard to say when we are agoing to get paid

And tell Clayton Seavess that Lewis Hart is one of the Dumbest and Deefest fellow in the company and the Goverment is cheated when he got such a man as him in the army he says he was kicked out of the navy yard for being so dumb and deef.
