My Dear Husband,
                                    I take this oppertunity of answering your kind and welcome letter which i received this morning and was very glad to hear that you was well as I am happy to say this leaves us at present. you must remember this august Julia is eighteen and she wants to know what she is to do with her dollar. Aunt Patty Vansant was buried last sunday. you did not say who they was that was killed and wounded write and let me know who they where, and tell me if you have plenty to eat. Mrs Vandegrift wants to know if you know any thing about Amos she has not heard from him / for over too weeks, and Hannah wants to know about her husband if you know whe he is for she says she dont.
 
Frank want to know what you horses name is and says he hopes you will bring it home with you him for to ride around on. no more at present. write soon
