Dear Venila I now seat my self to write you a few lines to let you know that I am still alive and well and teough as ever the boys are in good spirits thare is a report hear that the 34 has ben in battle but I dont whear the rebels are within 10 miles of us but I dont think that they will get aney nearer hear they say that the 15 Reg is hear william Hawley went to se his brother but the Reg Co that that his Brother / was left to Alexandria to gard the stores and the sick they will bee hear soon and then I shall sea them the windsor boys are in the 15 I should like to hear from home very much tell all the folks to write and let me hear from home wee had a sing hear last night and to day Mr Stowal called on me to day I think that he is a nice man he is sargant in Co F now Venila I want you to write and let me know if that money that I sent to H N winslow give my love to all and tell them that I should like to se them and shake hands and go to meeting with / them once more and sing with them and prey prey for the soldiers and think that they have soles to save or loose now it is a most time for role coll and I must close Kiss the children for me now may the blessing of god rest uppon you and all the rest of the folks when you get this I want you should sit down and write to me and have the neighbours write to me
