My Dear wife or Nila just as you have a mind to I now take my pen in hand to let you know that I have not forgoten you and as I have now time I will try and write you a few lines well we left our old camp ground last saturday night we got our orders to start a bout 9 oclock and we started about 11 and we marched about 10 miles and then we lay down on the ground and slept sound and about noon we started and went about 15 rods and staid in our shelter / that knight and the next morning we pitched our sibley tents we are about 1 mile from falls Church and about 7 from washington we dont know how long we shall stay hear but not long probaly I have got yours that acknowledged the taking of that money and I sent 10 dollars to father but have not heard aney thing from it and I should like very mutch My health neaver was better I have had to get me another pair of boots I have paid 14 dollars for 2 pair of boots since last fall this mud spoils them very fast give my / love to all and just say to them write you have heard that hoocker has licked the Rebs have you not well we shall probaly go thear and join him I cary my testament in my pocket and read every day and shall keep it with me as long as I cary aney thing now pray for us all and keep up your spirits I must close now I shall send a photograph of the best Seargant in our Co and I want you to keep it Chois will you not yes I hear you say and may god bless you kiss the Children for me
