My Dear little wife how are you this afternoon and how are the little Babeys I suppose you think that they are not Quite so small but they seem small to me but I hope they will grow finley and be a great blessing to us both well I came of guard this morning and have just come off Drill we had a verry short drill it is the bayonett exercise and it would make you laugh to se us hopping a bout I like it verry well the new recruits came yesterday and this is the first drill that they have had and it would made you sneese to se them but they will grow into it our health is good I am getting fat a gain down here a gain I have not got a letter from you / for some time am expecting one to day hope I shall get one aney way and I hope two how do you get a long Nila now dont you tell me aney lies to me for if you do I shall hear from others so you cant fool me and if you are sick write and let me know or the children or aney of the folks for you know that I want to hear from you all I have written to Miss Sabrina Beals to day now aint you jealous I think I hear you say guess I be well you may tell her that you know all about it and tell her that you want to se it but dont you tell her that I have written to you now I spose you are haveing a good time a sleighing but I dont know who you / wride out with and I dont worry about that for I know my Nila better than that and I hope you will get a chance to ride maney milds this winter and if I was at home I think that I should ride some if not more do you know how long a visit Erastus made at home he has not said aney thing about them since he got back so I dont know aney more a bout home than as if he had not ben home but never mind the Whittman boys are better than they have ben for some time henry is on duty right a longe the rest are all well and smart I shall now wait till the mail comes and se if I dont get a letter from you and then / fill out the rest of this sheet.
Well Nila No letter to day and I now take my pen in hand to fill out this sheet to you and I shall still loock for one for some time or at least till I get one and I hope that it will not be long before I get one I dont know as you have got all of mine that I have sent you but if not then you will have all the more to read when you do get them for I have sent some 5 or six since the first of Jan so you se that I have not ben idle as to writing to you and as long as I live and can I shall write to My Nila and I know that she will write to me when she can and that will be prettey often wont it Nila there is no newes to write since I commenced to write this letter did you ever get those things that I sent home by Erastus there was some stones that the boys gave me when they got back from that scout they came from Strasburg dont you think they are Nise and clean pleas keep them in your private drawer I dont mean now understand me drawer not Drawers Nila shall I take a nother sheet or let this do for this time I will se and think
