My Dear wife I now seat my self to try and pen you a few lines to let you know that I am still alive and am getting along first rate I got your letter with the money all right and in due time and was glad to hear of your health and am happey that I can say that my health is good now I did feel rather down for some days after getting hear and kept my bed for some days but it was on acount of my arm and when that began to get better then I felt better and now I am the / same old hector for we have got one hear to work at so you know I shall do my part you want to know whare the wound is well it commences at my elbo and runs down some 4 inches towards my hand and is about 4 inches the other way so I am minus skin and meet and some chords for the space of 4 inches onn the rit side of the arm it is doing first rate and will soon begin to heal up it is prettey stif and sore but not half as bad as it has ben for my hand has ben swelled so I could not open or shut it but is swelled none now I have got a good nurse and Doctor I must close for this time so good Day /
