                                                                                                            My Dearest wife
as I have lain a bed a most all day I now seat my self to pen you a few lines to let you know that I am still doing well and hope this will find you the same that is in good health and spirits we lost our old Nurse this morning he went to the front and we had 18 ambulances full that came from Baltimore and they are sending off and receiving all the time so we are prettey near full hear all the time the Ward Master came to me and wanted that I should go to ward O and he / ward master of that ward but I told him that I could not write with my arm yett and he said he forgot that my right arm was lame so I lost that job well I think that I shall soon be able for some thing my arm is doing first rate thoug I think your care was the best yes better than aney one else could do for All well have you got aney snow up thear we have none hear and it is quite warm hear and pleasant but I expect we shall have it cold enough soon for winter is uppon us in all its forms snow rain and sun shine but never mind for god is over all the same and we have but to trust / him and obey his commands and all is well we listened to an exelent discorse yesterday from our Chaplain he is a Methodis and a nise man I think we have our servise in our dining hall so thear is aplenty of room for all that are enclined to cum in and hear the blessed truth my health is good and as I sit hear writing the Horse Cars are leaveing and the rumbling nois seems like distant thunder but I must close for my arm is tired kiss the Children for me and tell them to kiss mother for father give my Love to all enquiring after your All
