Well Mrs Venila Hubbard as you sayd in yours of the ninth how are you to day and what are you up to you say that thear is a great maney getting married thear well I shall have to keep my eyes open for if I should loose my little babey wife in the midst of all the getting married what should I do for a wife now in war times well I will stop this for I guess I have plagued you enough for this time but you take me all down when you say that uncle Martial and Mrs Card are going to be married well tell them I wish them mutch joy /

well Nila I will put onn a few more lines as I have nuthing to do but to play checkers and as I can whip them all I think I will stop and write to my dear little wife I received a letter from Melintha that has ben to the regiment that was mailed the 15 of dec and I got it to day all most a month just because she directed it to Washington DC and put on the Companey and regiment but it came at last I got a letter from H. N. Winslow wednesday he says that you have got snow enough up thear for all practial perposes well do you get aney sleigh rides or do you sit down in the corner and suck your fingers well wait patientley and see /
well Nila it is evening and I have playd checkers some and now I will try and write a few lines to let you know that I received a letter from you to night with the stamps all right and thank you for your kindness and promptness in sending me them out of your small amount of money and I hope you may be rewarded for your love and fidelity and you say you think of letting the town have the money but I think that you had better let newton take it and do with it as he is amind he can put it out some whare for some thing whear it will be safe for us or you but I hope and prey for us my arm is most all healed up it aint so / large as a small steel pen no not ½ so I shall soon be readey for the regiment and the regiment is down in the armey of the James well Nila I must close now My health is good and am as fat as a hog or pig or aney fat thing
