My Dear wife I now take my pen in hand to let you know that I expect to start for my regiment tomorow morning and you had better not write aney more letters untill you hear from me again but I will write as soon as I get to whear I can and then you can forward as maney as you pleas I was in hopes that I should of got my pay before I went but must take it as it comes so let it be My health is good and arm all healed up /
 
Kiss the Children for me and tell them to be good and try and learn all they can and your my Nila you must wait with patience for the time when if I live that I shall meet you and thank god for life and health and all the blessings we engoy
