Oh Nila have you ever got
the warrant that I sent to
you My Sergt warrant I mean
Camp Near Richmond
Apr the 7 1865
My Dear Wife
I now seat my self to try and write you a few lines to let you know that I have ben spaird to live to see this rebelion allmost closed up and that I lived by the blessings of God the giver of all our blessings day before yesterday we marched into the great and renowned rebel Capital sunburnt and war worn yett we wer feeling prettey well considering all things allthough we had marched some 350 milds since we left Camp Holly and had ben in the fight of Hatches run 3 days and built Breast works nights and fought day times and then when we broke the lines we left for Peetersburg and charged on Batery Gregg and captured that and then we lay down and lay till morning and then started after R E Lee and at apomatox Cort house we came up and fought him and he surrenderd to our forses My health is prettey good though not as good as when I last wrote no more
