My Dear wife
I now seat my self to inform you and the rest of the family that I am enjoying good health at this time and I hope and prey that you all are enjoying the same at home and that it may continue for a long time and I am in hopes that I shall be able to meet you at home before long but then we must wait for the time but when I do get home I will try and give you a general description of our late / acheivements and what we went through in order to do it but then we will say no more at present for I had rather wait and tell you face to face and then I can enforce it as you use to say but then I will not begin to Hector you now for I can do that to perfection when I get home and then you will have to take it as it comes for you know that I have ben in the habit of saying you do this and have had others to back me up in what I said but I have had no trouble hear and I hope to have none at home with you at least and I am not afraid of it now what do you think about it I have ben musterd in / and now the Goverment ows me for 8 months seven of it is twenty dollars per month and one month 18 so you can reccon it up and then you can know about how it is Jerry and Johney are hear we have 39 men to draw rations for now so it is quite a Companey now I think I have lost some letters but I can make up when I get home But I must close now Love to all and a good Hugg to you when I get home so good Day to Mrs Venila.
