Well Nila as I was thinking of Home and friends and the blessings that we once enjoyed and I am in hopes that we shall live to se those happey days again and live to enjoy the freedome that we are now fighting for and that our little ones may live to enjoy the independence that I hope we shall shureley gain and I believe that this rebellion is a bout closed up and that they will soon close up their long standing acounts with uncle Sam and as one of our recruits / wife says in writing to him and now Dear husband I mean to let you know that she wrote some six or 7 times over and now Nila I mean to tell you some thing but cant tell what it will be but some thing when I find some newes
evening of the 10 well Nila I now take my pen to try and finish this letter for I want to send it off so that you may get it in due season and I know that you will loock for it and I mean that you shall not loock in vain for I know what it is to loock in vain we are hear in good health we wer paid off last monday night and they tuck out my / extra clothing for last year and you know that I had verry little money when I left Pittsfield and I had to get some after I got back hear and when I got all settled up I had verry little left but the next time I will send you a good preasent my revolver cost 11 Dollars so I had verry little to use but we shall soon get the rest that is due us the first of March it is due and we shall probably get it then or soon after Jerry and Johney are hear and in our Camp I received a letter from S A Beals dont be jealous Nila I have not got all of that / money that I paid out but have got some of it dont think that I shall get aney more shall go on the pontoon bridg to morow on guard no more at this
