My Dear wife babie wife or my Noble true harted and Patriotic wife how do you do to day well I hope and teough as this leaves me at the present time or as I am at the present time for I dont know when I shall have a chance to send this but as I have a chance to write I will do so and send it when I can and you will be glad to gett it when you can I think well we had to leave our old / breast works and moove to the front and you know that I am verry fond of Breast works so you may judg of my surprise when the order came to fall in but at it we went as usual but as god has orderd it we have had no fighting to do as yett but dont know how long before we may be called Sergant Clark was sick and sent back to Sandey Hook and we have now 21 men in our Companey hear for duty rather of a small Companey but then better than none we are living right on our stile now all the green corn that we want and you know that is some for me I can posibley worry down some 8 or 10 good large ears 3 or 4 times a day I am in / Hopes we shall gett paid off soon so I can send you 4 or 5 dollars I cant send you as much as I should like but will send all I can and you will save all you can and be comfortable and no more tomorow they will ow me 8 months pay for the first 4 months 52 dollars and for the other 4 months 72… making in all 1,24 Dollars but I am owing the sutler some and some of the boys so I shall not have so much but if I get what the Boys are owing me I shall come verry near it for they ow me 29 Dollars but thear is but one of them hear the rest are at the Hospitals or some whear they are not wounded or sick but playd I dont think of aney more news about my pay or aney thing that would interest you Johney miner is in the Hospital at Anapolis
