well Nila I now take my pen in hand to let you know that I am still hear in camp and I dont know but we shall stay hear all winter but I dont think that we shall stay hear a great while but dont know and cant guess we have ben drilling on skermishinging two days yesterday and today yesterday we went in the brush for about 2 milds and then we came to the woods the brush was whear the woods had ben all cut down and left and then we came to the woods and then we went about one mild farther the way that we skermish is to deploy right and left / and now I will explain so that you may know how to skermish theare is generaley eight Companeys or 10 and then thear is about 1/3 of them for reserve and the rest of them are placed some five paces a part in a line and they reach some ways then we forward march and halt and dress up and then forward and lay down and fire and then get up and then ralley on the reserve and then ralley on the battalion and ralley by four when we are deployed we have four of us that stick to gather and fight for one other and ralley by sections and ralley by plattons you may think that we have a good maney ralleys well Nila we do and have some good times and some hard ones /
to day we went to a funeral of one of the boys in Co K he was from pitsfield and was the first one that has ben buried down hear out of this Regiment all the others have ben carried home I must now close for this time I cant send this till I get some stamps

well Nila I am making a good maney dates to this little letter but we wer on gard yesterday thanksgiving day and thear was no dutey but gard don on the Camp my health is good yet I have not got a letter for some time but I think that I shall to day we had some thanksgiving last night Needham got a box from home /

Dear Nila I received your letter last night and this morning I hasten to send this letter that I have ben writing I should of sent it before this time but I had no stamps when you write again pleas send me $4 dollars worth of stamps if you can and not pinch your self I must close now pray on and trust in god
