My Dear Wife I have just recived your letter of the 28th and Emilys of the 27th last night I also recd one from Charly Morris last night, but you spoke about one being sent by David last week I thought but I have not recieved any from Newark since week before last I have written to David last week and to Mother on Sunday and sent it on Monday. I like to recieve letters from any body almost now I am out here and If they are directed right am sure to get them as our post boy goes to Hagerstown every day and gets the letters for the regt. we moved / from Hagerstown on wedensday morning for Williamsport but we did not go quite to the town but turned of and came here and encamed here in the woods a little ways from nowhere but we have a nice place and comfortable but we have got to move tomorrow morning at ½ past 6 Oclk right back towards Frederic but only a little ways perhaps as far as Boonsboro although we cannot tell at present

I am well as yet and want to Eat all the time but dont. I am glad you are well and the children to and I hope you may keep so I am glad Father Birrill has been up to se you and I hope he will be able to help you to some money to get along until I get my pay and not go to Mr Morris for any help if you can help it the reason I spoke to you about the tax I thought he had an account of all expences that he had been to in refference to the property and holds the deed for it and I supposed he would be willing pay the tax on the property when he knew / how you was situated at the present time and wait until I recieved my pay and refunded it to him, that is if he thinks the goverment is good for the money now due me and had any faith in my word. but I shall write to Charley as soon as I can and you do what you think best about borrowing money of Father until you get some from me but I cant tell when that will be at present as we have got to make out our papers for the men and the pay rolls and a great many other little things to do before the pay comes and we have to move tomorrow. we have been out this morning on inspection and muster and the Capt is at work at the papers now while I am writeing but we have not got some papers that we want that are were left behind and should have been sent out longe ago but have not and it may be we shant get our reports made out right but we are going to try hard for we want / money bad all of us so get some money if you can of Father or Sarah and dont want for any thing if you can help it for I shall get some money by the 20th of next month (november) whether I get pay or not as Lieut Beach will let me have money as he buys Everything for us to eat and will until we can get some for ourselves as he can get money at any time without any trouble I have no money myself and have not had any for some time except as I have borrowed it and that is pretty hard but I cant help it at present but I hope to be better off soon and until then we must wait until with patience trusting in god for streanth to bear up at all times I should like to have you go to Newark as often as you can and tell them how you are getting along and how things are with me as I shall keep you informed as well I can by letters and I hope they will give you all the encouragement in their power and I shall try to pay them up in some way or other we have done something for them in times past and I feel certain they will return it now as you are situated at present I have never heard for certain whether you got your coal or not but suppose you have of course. I think you had better get your potatoes and buckwheat in for the winter as soon as you can for it is bad to get them in the winter after it gets verry cold and esspecialy now that you
