Ha.ha.ha. We just got a turkey for our supper. Wont we have a good supper I wish you were here to help us to eat it. I think if you would of been in our place you would be glad to get a hold of a turkey. I know you care nothing about such things but we do now. now. Whenever we can buy any thing we pitch into it. I wish we were not so far from home so that we could get some things from our friends. Sister I would like very much to receive a box from you as I know we would get good things. I often think of the sport I had in that large warm room last winter but now / them times have passed. They are gone perhaps never to return but we hope they will. I hope I and Brother will be spared to return to gladen our dear Mother. Brothers, Sisters and friends. I wish I was with you this eve and then back in the morning. I could tell you much more then I have written and many things that I have not room to mention.
Kind Brother and family; I was glad to hear that you were all well and I am thankful to state the our health is very good and hope when this reaches you, you will be enjoying / the same heavenly blessing. Health is all I wish for at present and hope I will be blessed with it.
Dear friends I thank you for your kind advice you gave me and Brother. I hope God will bless us in all our trials and guard us in all dangers that surround us. It was alone through the mercy of Divine Providence that we were spared and got through the battle safe. I never saw the hail fall faster then the bullets flew and fell around us. The only one that I thought came close to me passed through between my hand and face when I was putting a ball down. / I felt the heat in my face very plain. It made me juke a little but I soon got over it. Crag[?] we got orders to go back to Lebanon in the morning, with the teams to guard them. Three or four of our companies are to go. It will be a pretty hard trip as it is some forty miles from here. Indeed I must close as I want to write a few lines home yet to-day. I will close by wishing you health and happiness. Farewell.
