Dear . Wife
I will write you a few lines and let you know that I am alive and well and hope these few lines will find you the same yours of Jan 28th , came to hand this morning and was very glad to here from you and that you was well well Frances you wanted to know if I hald enlisted agane well I am sorey to say it but I must tell the truth I have enlisted agane it is somthing that I never thought I should do agane but I thought it all over and made up my mind that it was the best thing I could do as we are situated if I hald not enlisted tha would caled me a coward and no man shall call me that if I can help it I know you want me to come home and stay thare with you no man ever wanted to go home and stay any more than I do I know it aint msing you well but Frances I hope you will forgive me if I have done wrong I said when at home that I never would enlist agane but made my mind that a bad promis hald better be broken than kept we shall go home before a grate.while if nothing happens to us and then I will tell you all about it our recruits arived here one weak ago to day tha a very good looking lot of men and I gues tha are a good set of men Milton.Davis. & Albert.Fuller came in to our Co Milton is tough as a bar and likes very well We hald thirty five com in to our Co none that I ever knew before exoping those two I understand that the Small.Pox is in Bradford if so perhaps it will be a bad time for us to go home this Spring well what do you think about our enlisting agane I hardly think you will blame me when I tell you how it is I curtinly dont think the war will last three years longer if it does we shall be about as well of here in the army as we should be at home I am not gointo to stay bacose I like the army for I do not I stay because the rest of the boys are gointo so I must show my colars or back out. I must close hoping I shall see you in a short time the boys are usually well you must keep up good curage for your little man is coming home to live with you yet I hope must close fore this time give my love to all and except a good share your self write soon and all the news Good Buy From your Aff Hursband
