"Little Doc,"
How are you?—and how do you like "Cnoxvil"? pretty cold aint it? well are you a veteran?—if so I suppose you will soon be basking in the smiles of a certain young lady of Kent Station. eh?—I dont think I shall reinlist for I was yesterday insulted by a low, base, mean, stinking, thing of an officer, & it made me entirely disgusted with the service & I long to be a citzen—so I can give them a piece of my mind.

Everything is serene here / we are now a Genl Hosptl Dr Lyde still in chg. have got the building filled jam full of Chronics. Dr Hasse has his full also. The corner church is vacated. We expect to send some 40 or 50 away soon, & I persume it will all be broak up as soon as possible for the building is very cold. This letter enclosed was handed me by one of the boys in the Regt so I send it along. Give my kind regards to all boys. How is old Van? has he reinlisted? Tell the Col. to send my desriptive roll if he pleases. Excuse haste & poor writing as I have a very sore hand. Old Dr sends regards. Remember me to the chaplain & all rest. Send me my letters if I have any there. direct to Hosptl No 2
