                                                                                                                                                Dear . Wife             
                           
            I will write you a few lines and let you know that I am alive and well and hope these few lines will find you the same we left Franklin the 7th of this month and came to Algiers  we came here for the purfors of going home We are to be musterd out and in to morrow if it dont rain and then we expect to start for home in a few days if nothing hapens we shall get red of the spring campain  I hald a letter from Amanda to night and she says that Ed hald a letter from Henry and he was a prisner in Richmand and he was well.  Frances I never felt so well about any thing as I do to here that he is alive and well I hope he will get home as soon as I do I cant stop to write much more this time  I must write to Amanda to night  I will see you before long love to all & a good share your self  Good Buy  N.
