Minerva P. Hatch to Jethro A. Hatch, 11 June 1878
Aurora June 11th 78
Dear Jettie
The eighteenth is near at hand I wish to send you some reminder of my affectionate regard and as I know not what will be most acceptable I conclude to send what has been to me through all the changes of my past life a present help in every time of need I do not send it thinking you are destitute of or unacquainted with the the Word of life but because I like to think of my children and remind them of a mothers love the book is larger than I should have selected but when age impairs your sight it may be appreciated
The poem by J. A. Ho in the paper you sent was seems sweeter every time I read it—though 'youth and health have fled' my life is still crowned with mercies and this heart is beating still the same and waits the / mandate from above to still it
my health is better than since your Father's death friends in Aurora are in usual health Mercelia has had a severe attack of brain inflamation but is able to ride out a little and attend to home affairs Austin is very busy as these few months past and to come is the hurrying time for farming implements we have received from a Mr Edwin Hatch of Hudson NY the genealogy of the Hatch family and giving dates from 1630 (when Thomas Hatch arrived from England and settled in Dorchester Mass.) to the present time if you have not received a similar letter and would like to insert it in your the blank record of your bible I will send a copy with pleasure write soon and often and let us know if you are drowned out this wet season when you are coming to Aurora
Your Mother
