Now mister i must bring my exercises to a close for my part i dont care which way the world wags. i have been a soldier & are so still. i have been in dangerous places whare shot & shell fell thick & fast. but them days is past. & if their is more to come why they may & welcome. at the present time i think myself as good as a nigger & as gay as they make them under stand that. their is nothing of any importance agoing on in the army thoes muddy times as we have now. that i no of
 
So my respects to you all. tell Job to get ready for that fishing scrape by the time that the niggers is all free for then the war will be over
