Mary does any body read my letters except you if the does I will write my privacy on another piece of paper. Mary I have got the pictures safe by my side & would not take a a Farm for them. Povey was over here when I got the first one & wanted me to let him have it. Lord I could not see him a tall.
 
I should compose some poetry if I had time. so you must not wait for me. Oh, how I would like to see you. I never shall forget you. I shall forever prove true to you unless you should prove untrue to me, which I am not afraid of. I hope you will enjoy your self the best you can hopeing I may meet you after the war is settled up & the victory won it cant be I said any such a thing / for you know I am not one of the proud kind Please write soon & tell all the nuse &c. &c.
 
I dont blame you any for writing as you did. I hope you will take care of your self & look out for No one.
 
I often think of you & think of the time which has past & gone & I hope the will better times come for us to enjoy.
