Monday noon
My Own Dear Jen,
I came up from Court Martial this noon for dinner. we are going to have another sitting this P.M.
I found my resignation returned respectfully referring me to an article of war. So I looked at the article, wrote another one, have got it through the Regt. Hd. Qts. & Brigade Hd. Qts. Jen you must not expect me at all, as it is very uncertain indeed, as it now has to be approved at Division, Corps & Department Hd. Qts. at any of them they can stop it. dont say nary a word to anyone as it is so uncertain.
I have not time to write a letter as it is now already time to go to Court, so you need not call this a letter but just a word, to remind my dear that I am always thinking of her.
Jen if I get away from here & if you dont disapprove of it, I think I will offer my valuable services to go into Cavelry, that is after being at home a few months. well it will be time enough to talk about that when I get there. with all my love
I am as ever
your Aff Hus
