Nathaniel Low Jr. to Jennie Niles, 2 June 1863
Camp 11th N.H.Vols.
Stanford Ky, June 2nd 1863.
5 Oclock PM

MyDear Jen,
How are you! I am pretty well I thank you, have just come to camp from Court Martial, last night we got orders to turn in all our wall tents except the field Officers, three days rations in haversack & five in knapsack, have an extra pair of shoes &c. line officers baggage to be cut down to thirty pounds all that means a d—l of a long march into Tennessee, so mote it be, or I meant (I hope it wont be) it is going to be very tough on us line officers I tell you.

Well Jen our gallant leader Col Harriman has had to resign. never was there such a fall / a man yesterday who thought he was cheating everybody riding on popularity & fame in the newspapers, but to day a ruined man. what a fall, I pity him truly, but Jen I never told even you I believe, he is made up of mighty poor trash I tell you. the many petty nasty little things he has done would fill a volume, great is the fall.

My resignation will go through I hope but cant tell. I hear it has gone through division Hd. Qts. the stick is going to come at Corps Hd. Qts. so dont expect me not a bit until you receive a telegram. expect now to have a letter in a few days from Tennessee—remember me Jen to all the folks & with all my love for yourself I am as ever

                                                                                    Your Aff Hus.
                                                                                                            Nat—

P.S.
I write this in Lieut [?] tent, he wishes me to ask you to tell Mattie that he is very sorry that she has degenerated for with all her faults he never knew she was a thief before—

Major Farr says he reckons now we had better take something.

Dr Ross says that in his private opinion this can not [?] Co K.—Dr Ross is to tight to go on
