Darling Georgia and all
            the dear Ones
                        I send Georgia these little books for they come from the Weldon R Road Va where we fought our last battle we expected an other this morning & got up & marched 5 miles before breakfast but did not find any Rebs & came back I hear by Mother that you are a very good girl and I think lots of such a good expect of you and I expect you now help Mother a great many steps you save her & I always want you to be very good to her for you know she is a dear good Mother to us and you will always love & be good to her 
 
Dr Wife I am hurried so much just now that I hardly get time to think I have 4 Companies to make muster Rolls for & have to make 20 rolls in all & 8 returns and the other Companies are all out of fix & mixed up so that I have to cypher it out You will get some money of any one for the present for I suppose we will not be paid till middle of the month or so now I think I will get $780 and I will have enough to buy Debleux out & some for you too I see 5.00 are up it will be a good bargain tell me about the draft who comes and how about the Election &c
